Visita conjunta sobre el terreno de las Juntas Ejecutivas

Una delegación integrada por 25 personas de las Juntas Ejecutivas del PNUD, el UNFPA, la UNOPS, el UNICEF, el PMA y ONU Mujeres llevaron a cabo una visita conjunta a Panamá y El Salvador del 23 de marzo al 1 de abril de 2014, con el propósito de mejorarel conocimientode  los  miembros  de  Juntas  Ejecutivasrespecto  al  papely  contribución del  Sistema  de  las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo en general,y especialmente, el trabajo que llevan a cabo en lo  particular  las  agencias  de  Naciones  Unidas  señaladas.

Al  respecto  es  de  destacar  que la delegación conoció el papel y las funciones que desempeña el equipo regional, liderado por el Coordinador  residente  establecido  en  Panamá,  para  apoyar  y  coordinar  el  trabajo  de  las diferentes  agenciasde  las  Naciones  Unidas instaladas  en  los  países.

Esta  fue  la  primera  visita  conjunta  sobre  el terreno  a  América  Latina  en  más  de  10  años. La visita brindó la oportunidad de observar de cerca el papel del Sistema de las Naciones Unidas para el Desarrollo.

A delegation comprising 25 Members of the Executive Boards of UNDP/UNFPA/UNOPS, UNICEF, WFP, and UN Women conducted a joint field visit to Panama and El Salvador from 23 March to 1 April 2014 with the purpose of enhancing Executive Board members’ understanding of the role of the United Nations Development System in general and especially that of the specific organizations concerned in the region.

The delegation learned about the role and functions of the Panama – based United Nations Regional Team in supporting and coordinating United Nations Country Teams (UNCT) and national governments in the region and also interacted with the Resident Coordinator and the UNCT in Panama.

The visit was the first joint field visit to Latin America in over 10 years. The visit provided an opportunity to observe closely the role of the United Nations Development System.
